Lawmakers representing thousands of residents and businesses affected by service issues with Frontier Commonwealth have provided an update on the proposed settlement recommended for approval by the Public Utility Commission (PUC). The settlement comes in response to a formal complaint filed against Frontier for its failure to provide reliable service to customers.

In a joint statement, Republican Leader Bryan Cutler and several representatives expressed their optimism about the progress of the case, stating, "We are encouraged to see this case taking another step forward because – we hope – it means we are another step closer to ensuring the customers of Frontier Commonwealth finally get the kind of reliable telephone and internet service they pay for and deserve."

The lawmakers emphasized the importance of accountability for companies like Frontier towards their customers, acknowledging the role of the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate and Office of Small Business Advocate in advocating for affected constituents.

Furthermore, the representatives highlighted the critical role played by consumers in bringing attention to the service issues, stating, "It bears repeating this case would never have been brought if it weren’t for the many consumers who stepped forward to share their stories of being without telephone or internet service for days, weeks or even months."

The proposed settlement includes provisions for credits or refunds for service failures, as well as required investments by Frontier into facilities to address long-standing service problems. Consumers can access the full details of the proposed settlement online at OCA.pa.gov.

Formal parties involved in the case now have 20 days to file exceptions before the PUC makes a final decision. The PUC may choose to accept the decision or review and potentially modify it.
